Five Random Facts for Friday

Here are some random facts for you.

1.  Since Easter is based on the vernal equinox, it can fall on any day between March 22nd and April 25th.  Easter has been on April 20th (“420”) just three times in the past 95 years, and they were all recent:   In 2003, 2014, and this year.  (It won’t happen again until the year 2087.)

2.  Penguins have knees.  Their legs just look super short because most of their leg bones are covered in feathers.

3.  Every ounce of ice water you drink burns one calorie.

4.  Australia comes from the Latin word “australis,” which means “southern.”  It got that name because an explorer in the late 1700s said it was impossible that there’d be any other land further south.  Antarctica, obviously, hadn’t been discovered yet.

5.  The company Nokia was named after a city:  Nokia, Finland.  But it’s no longer based there.
