Would you rather be on a long flight with really bad turbulence, or a kid who won’t stop screaming the whole way? America has spoken, and it’s close, but we’d rather worry about the plane being ripped apart.
Someone polled 2,000 flyers to find the Top 10 things that make us feel “uneasy” or “uncomfortable” while flying. And it’s basically a tie for first.
1. Screaming children. 51.6% said it makes them uneasy.
2. Turbulence, 51.5%.
3. Loud adults, 47%.
4. Flight delays, 40%.
5. The bathrooms are gross, 40%.
6. The crew is rude, 35%.
7. People constantly walking up and down the aisles, 34%.
8. Not getting to pick your seat, 28%.
9. The cabin is too hot or too cold, 26%.
10. Long waits for the bathroom, 26%.
They also looked at the top things that put us at EASE on flights. The top five are a nice crew, choosing your own seat, good in-flight entertainment, space to get up and stretch, and outlets to charge your electronics.
(With all the action it’s seen lately, I’m surprised the “uneasy” list didn’t include “flying in or out of Reagan National.” Someone with a kite almost took down a plane the other day.)
(A separate poll last week found the only thing worse than a screaming kid is being stuck in a middle seat.)
