Is it getting harder to find stuff on Google? And are they doing it on PURPOSE? (???)
The site “Wallet Hub” just went after them, claiming they’re intentionally making their own product worse, because they realized it’s more profitable.
If you find what you’re looking for in two seconds, you don’t spend much time looking at ADS. So the idea is they’re drawing the process out and FORCING us to look at them. Over half of Google’s revenue comes from those ads.
“Wallet Hub” posted a bunch of data to support it. They say Google even did their own study in 2020 that found worse search results would, “NOT result in a significant loss of revenue.”
Normally, making your product worse wouldn’t be good for business. So, it all hinges on the idea that Google has very little competition.
Basically, even if their search function gets worse and worse, they’re confident you still won’t use Bing.
