Five Random Facts for Thursday

Here are some random facts for you.

1.  Usain Bolt says he ate about 100 McDonald’s Chicken McNuggets each day at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, because they were a familiar food he knew his stomach could handle.  He won three gold medals at that Olympics.

2.  The first human beings were around 66 million years after the Tyrannosaurus rex.  And the T-rex didn’t evolve until 67 million years after early dinosaurs.  Which means the T-rex was alive closer to you and me than it was to other dinosaurs.

3.  “Judge Judy” debuted closer to the moon landing than to today.  It first premiered in 1996, which was 27 years after the moon landing, and more than 28 years from right now.

4.  Kleenex tissues were originally invented in 1924 as a way to remove makeup.  But so many people wrote the company to say they were using them as disposable handkerchiefs that all the marketing shifted to that by 1930.

5.  A “mulligan” became a do-over in golf because of a guy named David Mulligan in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in the 1920s.  He hit a bad shot, then he decided to try it over again, so his friends started calling that move a “Mulligan.”
