Japan Snagged the World Record for Most People Pointing at the Sky

Guinness is really scraping the bottom of the barrel with these records . . .

A group in Japan just set a world record on Sunday for most people pointing at the sky all at once.  (???)

That’s all they did.  They just pointed straight up with one finger and held it for 30 seconds.  Even the number was unimpressive, just 507 people.

It’s the type of record you’d only set because no one ever thought to before.  Guinness apparently thought it was worthy of being enshrined in the record books.  (The Mainichi)  (Here’s a photo.)

(Japan also holds at least two more world records for pointing:  “Most photos of people pointing in the air uploaded to a website in one hour“, and another for the most “uploaded to Facebook in one hour.”)

(At least one of those had some cultural significance, because they were imitating a statue.  But it sounds like the one on Sunday was just for fun.)
