Bath & Body Works Is No Longer Selling an Offensive Candle

I’d like to think that NO ONE is interested in buying a Ku Klux Klan-themed candle.  But even if they are, they shouldn’t expect to be able to find one at a normal store in the mall.

Bath & Body Works had a new, three-wick candle called “Snowed In,” and the artwork featured a white paper snowflake in front of a festive, red background.

But some people thought each edge of the snowflake looked a little like a KKK hood.  The sides were pointed, and had small holes cut into them, resembling eye-holes.

It’s one of those things where most people wouldn’t have immediately seen it, but once someone points it out, you can’t UN-SEE it.  Someone DID mention it on social media, it went viral, and the company yanked the candle.

They said, “We are committed to listening to our teams and customers and committed to fixing any mistakes we make, even those that are unintentional like this one.  We apologize to anyone we’ve offended and are swiftly working to have this item removed and [are] evaluating our process [going] forward.”

(Here’s a photo, and another.)
