It’s National Beer Day: The States with the Cheapest Cases Include New York and Illinois?

Today is National Beer Day, and if you’re a beer drinker, you can celebrate by picking up an expensive four-pack of Double IPAs, or a cheaper case of something lighter and less interesting.

The website Visual Capitalist recently crunched the numbers on the average prices of 24-packs of beer across the country.

The state with the cheapest case of beer is Illinois, where the average price is $16.43.  That’s surprising since you’d think the states with the bigger cities would be more expensive, but that wasn’t the CASE.  (See what I did there?)

South Carolina was the second-cheapest, followed by New York state, Rhode Island, Kansas, Michigan, North Carolina, Arizona, Connecticut, and Virginia.

Alaska was the priciest, with an average of $33.62 per case of beer.  Wyoming was the second most expensive, followed by Hawaii, Montana, Tennessee, Vermont, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington.
