Five Random Facts for Thursday

Here are some random facts for you.

1.  There’s absolutely no historical evidence that Marie Antoinette ever said, “Let them eat cake,” or anything like it.

It was popularized as a rallying cry to inspire revolutionaries, but folklore scholars believe it was falsely credited it to Marie Antoinette, and then spread as propaganda, to rouse opposition to the monarchy.

2.  The three biggest employers in the United States are the Department of Defense with 2.9 million people, Walmart with 2.3 million, and Amazon with 1.6 million.

3.  South Africa has TWELVE official languages:  But somehow, the motto on their coat of arms isn’t in ANY of those, it’s in a language called Khoisan.

4.  Aerosmith made more money in royalties off the video game “Guitar Hero:  Aerosmith” than they made from any of their actual albums.

5.  The song “Killing Me Softly” was written about Don McLean.  The woman who wrote the song was named Lori Lieberman.  She heard McLean’s song “Empty Chairs” and she was so inspired by it she felt like McLean was killing her softly with it.
