A Florida Man Made a 20-Foot-Tall Version of the Leg Lamp from “A Christmas Story”

The mom in “A Christmas Story” would have REALLY had a problem with this.

A guy in Neptune Beach, Florida decided to have a competition with his neighbors to see who could come up with the best Christmas decorations.  (Neptune Beach is right next to Jacksonville.)

His name is J.P. Michalik.  It’s not clear if his neighbors even knew there was a contest.  But he definitely won it, with a giant version of the “Christmas Story” LEG LAMP.  (Here’s a photo.)

It stands 20 feet tall in his front yard, so you can’t miss it.  He says it’s 420% bigger than the one in the movie.  (420?  Yeah, this guy’s smokin’ something.)

He used golf netting for the fishnet stalking.  He’s also got a statue of Ralphie in his pink bunny suit hugging the lamp.  And yes, it lights up at night.  (Here’s a video. There’s also a big lifeguard chair in his yard, but that’s always there.)

He says he’s just a huge fan of the movie, and thinks it’s amazing it’s still so popular 41 years later.  But he admitted a lot of kids don’t get the reference.  (They must think he just really likes legs.)

(Here’s the leg lamp scene from the movie.
