Have We All Been Using Garbage Bags Inside Out This Whole Time?

TikTok is back with more dubious advice:  A woman’s video is blowing up after she let people know they’ve been using garbage bags wrong this whole time.  (???)

It says she was “today years old” when she found out they come INSIDE OUT.  You’re supposed to put the bag on the can like a hat, then push the whole thing down inside.  It eliminates the need to shake it in the air.  (Here’s the video.)

So is it really true?  Have we all been using garbage bags wrong our whole life?  Like so many TikTok facts, the answer is . . . NO, it’s not really true.  But she’s also not wrong.  (???)

It turns out the inside-out myth has been around a while.  The folks at Hefty weighed in on it after a similar video went viral a few years ago.

You CAN do it that way.  And yes, it might eliminate the need to shake the bag out.  But it’s not really how trash bags are designed to be used.  Hefty reposted the video and said, “There’s no wrong way to line a trash bin.”
