A Museum Employee Threw Out Two Empty Beer Cans That Were Actually Priceless Art

If this is “art,” then every NFL fan’s coffee table was like a museum yesterday.  An employee at a museum in the Netherlands threw out two empty beer cans that were actually priceless pieces of modern art.

The hand-painted cans were made to look like two empty beer cans someone carelessly left behind.  And they really DO look like that.  They’re part of a larger collection of cans titled, “All the Good Times We Spent Together”.

The museum’s elevator is all glass, and they were sitting on top of the glass ceiling.  (Here’s a photo.)

An elevator repairman didn’t realize they were an art exhibit, and thought someone just left them there.  So he tossed them in the trash to help out.

The museum’s curator noticed them missing.  And luckily, the trash hadn’t been sent to the dump yet.  So they were able to find the cans and clean them up.

They say the museum bears no ill will toward the worker, who was just “doing his job in good faith.”  The museum director said that, “in a way, it’s a testament to the effectiveness” of the artist’s work.
