The Walker Basin Conservancy is leading the effort to restore and maintain Walker Lake while protecting agricultural, environmental and recreational interests in the Walker River Basin. Plastic Free Fridays mission is to help significantly reduce single-use plastics consumption among individuals by raising awareness and shaping positive habits on a broad scale through education, awareness, and alternative solutions, while also working towards systemic change on the community-, corporate- and policy-level.

Food Insecurity affects everyone. Fifteen percent of area residents are unsure from where they’ll get their next meal because they lack food security. More than one in four children are food insecure in Washoe County, nearly the highest rate in the nation. Families faced with unhealthy food options due to insufficient funds and lack of access to grocery stores are forced to choose between food, rent and other necessities.

Calaverra Barbell’s Mission is The development of athletes through the sport of weightlifting. At Calavera we focus heavily on technique and proper movement patterns in the sport in order to develop strength, speed and power. We work closely with every athlete from beginner to higher level and provide a unique environment that promotes teamwork, mental toughness, confidence, humility, and communal involvement.
They partnered with the NVCCF for an event called “Pulling for our Little Heros” – NNCCF or The Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation has provided help, hope, and courage to local families affected by childhood cancer since 2000. The foundation was named in 2009 after two foundations in Reno joined forces and legally merged. Angel Kiss was founded in 2000, in memory of a five-year-old boy named Jarryd who passed away from leukemia, and the Keaton Raphael Memorial, Reno office, was founded in 2004 in memory of a five-year-old boy named Keaton who passed away from neuroblastoma. Despite their losses, these two families gave hope to others battling childhood cancer.

The Food Bank of Northern Nevada provides emergency food services to families through a network of more than 140 partner agencies in a 90,000 square mile service area throughout northern Nevada and the eastern slope of the sierra in California. We serve more than 92,000 people each month, half of whom are children and seniors. Last fiscal year, we provided more than 15.2 million meals to neighbors who were hungry. The Food Bank also plays a leading role in collaborating with other committed northern Nevada community members and organizations to address the root causes of hunger.
